Heading to the Coast

We dropped Chuck & Nina at the airport in Portland, and headed west to the coast.  Our goal was the Heceta Head Lighthouse. It was about a 4 hour drive, much of it through beautiful green forests.  The weather was mostly good, with the occasional Oregon rain shower.

Early afternoon, we reached HWY 101 and passed through the town of Florence, 12 miles to go before we hit our destination - you can see the lighthouse in the following photo:

The red house on the right is the old Lightkeeper's cottage that has been converted to a B&B.  I'm thinking of signing Lou up as a Travel Agent, since he's good at finding fun and unusual places to stay.

We arrived safely, and took some time in the afternoon to enjoy the stunning views from the front porch.

So that was it for our big travel day.  We had picked up salads for the evening meal, since the nearest restaurants were 12 miles away.
